Worms and Sand

Just finished a two hour ride on the wet, wormy, and sandy roads...good times. The wind picked up viciously towards the end. Which made me work more than I wanted to.

I head in this morning to get my gold teeth. I think I need to come up with a rap name.

Oofta...is that how you spell it?

Survived the Tuesday road ride! It was a great, but hard time. He had 16 riders...I believe a new record for a Tuesday ride. The ride ended with less and it was a trickle. Lets you know what kind of ride it was.

Going into the ride I found myself a bit nervous. WTF? It's just a group ride. I wasn't sure where my fitness was. I have been riding a lot but nothing hard. I am happy with how I did. I was able to hang with the group for the entire ride. I made my pulls up front, closed some gaps, and pulled some riders back to the group. I was not able to put any big attacks in or hang with small attacks off the front. Oh well, with time. It was fun and look forward to next Tuesday. Thanks for the great ride and thanks "Jimmy" for making me ride on my rivets.

Brinna is still running a bit a a temp so we will see what tomorrow brings. It's my turn to watch her. I love doing it but it's tough when we are slaughtering this month with sales.

Today was a good day.

Tuesday Night Ride

I'd like to make and official announcement: I will be going on the group ride tomorrow night! About freakin time. The last group road ride from the shop that I went on was over 1.5 years ago. I am looking forward to it.

Since there is the upcoming Marty Road Race this weekend, my vote would be to head out that way and ride the course...despite the wind blowing the wrong way.
But whatever, I am just excited to ride.
Sweet.

Sweet

This is the type of event I have been looking for. Let's see if time is found to do it. The trails of Decorah are awesome, so that helps too.

batta bing, batta boom...it's monday.

Wow, Friday through Sunday flew by. I was hoping to catch the tail end of Mr. Anderson's Birthday party, but Jen was at a chic concert till 10. Sorry Kris, Happy Birthday.
Saturday was a work day and it was a fast one. Lots of bikes going out and a lot of bikes coming in for repair.
Saturday night Jen, the girls, and I went to the mall. Good times. We got Avery's ears pierced...she was a trooper and not a tear nor cry. She was pretty stoked. I picked up a new fitted baseball cap, Phillies. Still love John Kruck, sp?
Sunday I was planning to ride but didn't feel like battling the rain. Hit the gym and back to work. We open at noon, but had a full parking lot at 11:50, WTF? Pretty much the same as Saturday. To the grocery store, kids get a bath, and now it's time to read and bed.
Man, my life is exciting. If I was drinking over half the stuff I got done this weekend would not have happened, nor wold I be typing right now. A tad over 9 months.

I have the makings of a pretty good mullet. When I wear my new cap it gets accentuated. I'll post a pic later this week to get some good comments.

bikes, bikes, bikes...

I still cannot believe the April we are having at the shop. It has been insane and as such has flown by! A few of us stayed late last night to catch up on building bikes and doing repairs. We kicked some major ass and got a lot of shit done. It's a nice feeling going into a weekend all caught up. Next month we have a new Ace mechanic joining the team...we cannot wait.

I am procrastinating a ride this morning...the wind is up and whipping yet again. North today, giddyup.

WTF?

80 degrees today? That's almost too hot. Then back to 50's-60's and rain. Ugh, I hate spring. I guess it's to be expected. Kenwoods Memorial Road Race is this weekend. I don't think they have ever had nice weather.
Well, I work at noon today so I am out the door for a good ride and some sunshine. And yes, my BFF the wind. But it's a south wind so Cty Rd8 here I come!

...a 1000 words.

Well again I wanted to add this picture at the bottom but don't have the determination to figure it out. So skip down and start there...or not. I finally got a new bike and have put the Surly Pacer away for the season. I have been getting out as much as I can and love both riding and the bike. The bike is about 10 lbs lighter than the Surly. Picture stolen from Kyia.

A lot has happened since I posted last. Not too sure what all to add so I'll just throw some stuff out randomly and call it being caught up. This past weekend was the EarthDay Half Marathon. Friday was the kids 1k fun run. Avery and I at the finish. She's acting pissed since Brinna took a sip of her Gatorade. I swear it was more than 1k, I was sweating a ton.

An action shot! Damn...my hair is out of control. We only saw three kids eat shit...meaning they went down on the asphalt.

We have had another Pinarello come and go. This one was pretty sweet...done right with Campy Super Record 11!

Harry so needs one.

We had to get a crazy ass expensive chain tool, but pretty cool. But come on, 24 steps to put on a chain?! I am not exaggerating. Having come in at the right time, another customer ordered up a Super Record 11 groupo...two in a week. Sweet.
This post seems too short but I don't have anything else for you. I need to go and read my book. It's pretty good.

Chill Out.

We are not a running shop by any stretch of the imagination but we were represented pretty well at this weekends Earth Day Half Marathon. Nate, in the Revo T-shirt and hat, took 4th overall! Nate is a new rider for Revolution and will do Duathalons and Triathlons. The guy with the red arm warmers are, you guessed it, Revo arm warmers. Sweet.

I am back from my blogging hiatus. I have been pretty busy with work, biking, playing with my kids, and being lazy. It was a fast but fun week. I hope to have a recap tomorrow sometime.

Thanks to all those concerned people...but I am fine. Geez.

Not Yet

I don't have an update yet. Have been somewhat busy and somewhat not into posting/blogging. I will have an update tonight on: sweet new ride (both mine and one that has left the shop), teeth, and more.

Pisser

Oops...I showed up for a Thursday morning appointment at the dentist this morning. Didn't work out. I'll try again Thursday. Brinna was sporting a 104 degree temp this morning, so I guess it kind of works out I don't have the dentist appointment. But that means no gym or no bike. My mom watched Brinna yesterday afternoon so I could go to work and now she will pick Brinna up at the shop after lunch sometime. Shit, the juggling continues.
If she is sick tomorrow I am making Jen stay home...the school will survive.

Looks like the weather is on the up and up. I hope to start heading out in the early mornings soon. I had hoped to hit up the Thursday group ride but Jen has conferences, so I have the kids and gymnastics to attend. I am anxious to get riding with the group, but give me a few months and I will be wishing for snow. I am so fickle.

Moving Along...

I was slotted to work the 9-5 shift today at work. But last night Brinna started to show signs of sickness...like a 103 temp. Even I can recognize that! Trying to juggle work, school, sick kid, time to sign the taxes, etc gets to be a trick. I gave Mike a call and he agreed to switch hours with me. Now I work 12-8, or whenever it is my mom can come and relieve me of Brinna duty. Owning your own business has it perks, but I cannot call up and say I can't come in...I would be putting the others in a bind. So far none of us have been too sick to work!

I set the alarm clock for 4:45 am this morning. I thought I'd hit up the gym and get back home before Jen had to leave for shcool. Well, I negotiated with myself that I have not had a day off in some time so I should just sleep in. Oh well, maybe tonight, or maybe not.

Tomorrow I go to the dentist at 7 am for the two crowns. Good way to start the day...spending a $1000 on my teeth. Shit.

Yesterday was Saturday, so It's Sunday

Sometime ago I decided I wanted to try and go an unspecified duration of time eating only locally grown or produced foods. I have done a significant amount of research and have several ideas, etc. in place to help me succeed. I gave myself a start date of May 1st. As this date approaches I have begun to realize there is a lot of food I will not be able to eat. That is all fine and expected, but I do not have a stock pile of produce in the freezer or canned to get me through the next couple of months when I can then buy stuff at the Farmers Market, the CSA I joined, or my own garden. Thus, I am still going to start the process of local only on May 1st, but not full throttle till the end of summer. By then I should be good to go through the fall, winter, and spring. I am excited for the challenge. The best part, if I fail...who cares. There are always exceptions too! Like coffee.

I did get a ride into today. I was under the impression it would be a pretty crummy day but it wasn't too bad this morning. Just me and The Chemical Brothers, then just me and Combichrist at the gym. Time for Cub.

Saturday

I was able to get this weekend off. This allowed me to go to Brinna's dance recital. It was what you would expect from a bunch of 4-5 year old kids. The best part was the entire program lasted about 30 minutes!

Later on Josh and I did about a 2.5 hour ride and now it's NCAA Basketball time. Oh yeah, and a big 'ol bowl of ice cream. Sweet.

I tried uploading a video of Brinna dancing but after 5 minutes I lost interest. Maybe next time.

Dork

I was pretty stoked to get home today. I ordered up some new earrings, or plugs, if you prefer. I will post some pictures later, but I got Jade, clear, red, and blue. You can't go to Claire's in the mall to get these plugs. You have to go to Hot Topic or a Tattoo Parlor. I have tried several times to go locally. But every time I would go in they would not have my size or offer to order it. Fuck you, I bought them on line and I didn't have to deal with your attitude. I wonder why two shops have closed and another changed ownership...customer service?
Out.
