Gone Vegan?!

I love nutrition, how it works, how it works differently for others, why it works, and on and on.  Over the past few years I've read more and more books, articles, etc on endurance athletes that have gone vegan.  The two most notable reads for me was "Thrive", by Brendan Brazier, and "Finding Ultra", by Rich Roll.

While loading my face in Florida with whatever I wanted I decided I wanted to give it a shot.  Why the hell not?!  Can always reverse it.
So the Monday after our trip to Florida I went Vegan.  Two weeks in and I'm surviving!  The first week was hard because my body went through a mini shock (I think) and I was bonking on my rides.  Things have leveled off and no problems, even on my 106 mile ride this past weekend.
Not sure how long I will go but shooting for awhile yet.  I have lost weight but not in gobs, about 1.5 lbs a week.  That's good I guess.

The hardest has been non-dairy and going out to eat.  So far I've managed to figure it all out.  It's kind of like quitting booze all over again.  There it is (ice cream) I could eat it, but I can't (well I could) eat it!  I've also reduced my gluten intake.  I thought this would be the most hard but turns out to be pretty easy.  Lots of options out there.  I initially cut out excess sugar but it has crept back in some.  Guess you can't do it all.  Also no soda...so far.

I'll keep you posted on my progress whether you like it or not.

Later.

Right on, dude! Check out the Post Punk Kitchen for recipes, I cook out of her cookbooks all the damn time. And Trader Joe's makes killer choco-cherry soy ice cream and cheeseless pizza! Nomnomnom.
