Saturday was the mtb race at the North Loop. We ended up modifying the course at the last minute due to all the rain. The single track itself was fine but the valleys on the ski trail were loaded with water. It was the right move. Numbers were down a bit, but not bad considering the state was dumped on all week with rain.
Sunday we moved to Riverside Park and had the PorkChop Challenge Cyclocross race. The weather was perfect, lots of volunteers made for a quick set up, and we reached record levels for the number of riders. Not bad considering a lot of the Cat 1/2 riders were in Madison for the Planet Bike Cup. A good day.
Another great race weekend but it doesn't go without a lot hours. A lot of people put in 18 hours for the two days. Some put in more if you add in the Tuesday trail work day, Friday course set up, previous trail work days, and countless hours of race planning. For the week many put in 24+ hours of volunteer time...I say it's worth it. The club made some money to help maintain the trails and our equipment.
Now let's ride.
Lot's of questions have been circling about the upcoming Dirt Bag gravel ride on October 30th. My attention will now be turned to this now that the races are done. More this week, promised.
Later.
