Monday: headed out on the 2x10 El Mariachi around 6:30. Did a lap at the north loop, buzzed around Sand Prairie, snuck across Balto's Loop, cruised farm roads, spooked deer behind St. Benedict Center (some sweet trails actually), and met up with the crew (Jeff, Hanz, and Franz) for the scheduled night ride. The North Loop is running awesome right now. A big thanks to Brian and Burt for blowing the leaves off the ENTIRE trail, thanks. It was a fun crew to ride with. I only had time for one lap and back home. Finished with 2.5 hours.
Tuesday: Dropped Brinna off at school then I laced up the boots and went out roller skiing. Maneuvering through town is a bit different than cruising the Wobegon. I started to get pretty pissed off with the traffic but once I hit cty road 8 things got better. Well I did crash but nothing happened so I was off again. 1.5 hours then some gym time.
Wednesday: My 9-noon day at work. I wasn't sure what I had wanted to do. I assumed I would ride gravel but the the wind made me second guess myself. I finally decided to air up the Pugsley and roll around on that. It's been a long time and I need to get comfortable on it once again for the upcoming season. I took Kyia's route (Calvary Park and cemetery) to Quarry Park. Spun around there for a bit, hit up Oak Hill on the way to the River Bluffs and Plumb Creek. Down the Beaver Islands trail, Tahlahi Woods, then a part lap at the North Loop. Ended with 3 hours. I forget how heavy and cumbersome the Pugsley can feel at first. Towards the end I was getting used to the nuances, etc that comes with a 4" wide tire and 40 lb bike. The bike is ass heavy so bunny hopping is still awkward. Had a blast but getting sick of "loop" type riding. I think I prefer long, put your head down and go type rides.
Next time.
Later.
