So, let's see...
Friday:
Headed out for a ride on the Pugsley. I thought this may be my last ride on the snowmobile trails. I haven't ridden the trails north to Rice so I thought I'd head that way. The wind was ridiculous. Riding the Pugsley is already slow, toss in some wind and I was moving at a snails pace at times. I was surprised at the amount of snow we had already lost. The trails were down to the dirt in many spots, making the going pretty rough. Many other spots were covered in ice for very long sections. After navigating several of these successfully the wind caught me on an ice crossing tipping me over wicked fast. That hurts. After falling again and getting my teeth rattled I called it quits and jumped out on the roads for a asphalt and gravel mix.
Ended back at home with almost 4 hours and a wind burned face.
Saturday:
Work day so not too much time in the morning. Hit the gym up for some weights and an hour on the treadmill. Still pain free!
Sunday:
I usually accept snow with open arms but was a bit bummed at the pending snow. I had wanted to get a longer ride in since I had the day off. After waking up and seeing that the snow hadn't started yet I checked the weather and scrambled to get everything set so I could go ride. My plan was to ride till the snow came, at which time I would make my way home. Again the wind was crazy strong. I was on the All City single, 38-15, making the going faster this time. Into the wind I sometimes had to stand to move on flats, while going with the wind my legs were a blur. Ah, single speeds, gotta love 'em!
The snow never came and I kept meandering east and north, into the wind. When I finally checked my time I was shocked at how long I already had been out. While I wasn't lost I didn't exactly know where I was. I ended up somewhere in Milacs County riding some killer gravel, it just went on for ever.
On the way back sometimes the wind was at my left backside. When gusts of wind came up I would feel the rear wheels skid a bit on the gravel, crazy.
Ended up with a bit more than 5 hours and 80 miles. Felt really good.
Today I think I will shovel, cause yeah the snow came!
Later.
