Got home last night, or this morning, at about 1 am. The drive was again ok just boring. I didn't set my alarm and I never heard Jen's go off. 6:55 I was out of bed getting the kids up and ready for school.
Mike kindly scheduled me a 4-8 shift today, I know gravy, but I'll take it. Instead of using the extra time to catch up on some sleep or put some of my shit away I jumped on the All City and headed out for a ride.
The weather is just too nice to do stuff inside, if you don't absolutely have to. I wanted another longer ride to detoxify my system of soda and candy from the car ride and to just get miles on in preparation for the TransIowa V.7.
I headed out down cty road 8 and worked my way over to the DirtBag course. For the first few hours the temp was still low enough that the gravel was firm and mostly dry. For the last couple hours the gravel got pretty soft and muddy...the going got slow. Regardless I was super glad to be out riding.
I ended up riding most of the DirtBag route, maybe 3/4 of it. I did a bit of recon if we want to switch the course up this year or not...still not sure on this. Back home I got a bit over 5 hours in and 80 miles. Man I love that single speed.
Speaking of what I love, I love the new Schwalbe Cross tires, 700x38, that I have on. They might be a tad bigger that I'd normally like but that doesn't seem to matter with these tires. They roll like a champ and have pretty good tread so I don't slip when grinding up a hill. Absolutely love them. I cannot wait to try, what I plan to be my go to tire, my Marathon Extremes, also by Schwalbe. These are suppose to be the ticket for gravel!
Well time to make a meal and head into work.
Later.
