Spring Teaser.

Saturday morning I did get out and ski a bit before work, almost 2 hours. It was still a tad below freezing and the wax I had was spot on so skiing was pretty fast. Two hours appears to be my limit before boredom sets in. I haven't been able to get over the boredom of doing "loops" yet this year. Oh well, still a good time.

Sunday it was scheduled to meet up at Rev for an "all condition" ride, so ride a cyclocross type bike. The ride was at 1. After doing a few things at home I decided to head out early and get some time in before the group ride. Oh how I have missed my cty rd 8 loop. Which is funny, I could do this 25 mile route forever and not get bored, but in skiing and mtb riding loops kill me. About 3/4 of the way through the loop, or less, I realized I would be pushed for time. Level 1 was out the window, it was time to haul ass. Well as much as I could on a single speed (38/15) with 700x38 tires. The sweat started to pour off my face. Not sure of the temp but it sure felt warm and nice. I managed to get back to the shop about 10 minutes late. So I was that guy...sorry.
We had a good group: Jim, Charlie, Tom, John, and myself. Per Jim's request we rolled over to the Alp. Again level 1 was out. I was unable to sit and spin so I was forced to stand and pound. I was tired and gassed but not like I have been on some Alp rides so I think my fitness is in a pretty good spot. We did hit up some gravel and to my surprise it was void of snow and ice and already in the "mushy" stage. If this keeps up we will be riding on hard gravel in March! Sweet. But I am not that naive. I know we have some snow yet to come. But having weather like we did this weekend it's hard no to look towards the future.
By the time I got home I had 4 hours 45 minutes and 80 miles on. I felt good, minus the later onslaught of gut rot...not sure what that's about.

CIRREM on February 26th is no longer a possibility for me. I need to be at work. I'm ok with this. Actually when I signed up I hadn't realized that the next week we, the family, are heading to Florida for a week. So I should be at work. Next up then is TransIowa V.7. In preparation for this I will need to do big hours. Yesterday was a good start, with hopefully more to come.

Out.

Hope the gut rot wasn't my food! MOM
