I learned several people I know will be doing either the 24 hours of Wausau or the 12 hour version. I think I may toss my hat in the 12 hours of fun. Now I just need to decide if I want to run it single or geared. And of course, me being me, I think I should get this or this. Hmm? I need to get sponsored, mom? dad?
In DirtBag news, Brian and I have been putting some work in here and there. It's hard to be super motivated when it's still 5 months aways. We are way ahead of the game for this time around. We have sponsors lined up and looking for more. Brian has the course pretty much dialed and reworked from last year. Just need to drive it all and cue it up. New logo should be pretty sweet. Stay tuned to the site as registration should open next month. We will be doing the typical gravel scene registration. First 100 postcards in, during the allotted time, will be the riders. We are open to bribery!
Saturday is the Almanzo 100 and Royal 162. This is the inaugural running of the Royal so I just "had" to do it! I'm actually pretty excited. Chirs Skogen, race director extraordinar, puts on a fantastic event, for both riders and fans. In my opinion he has brought the gravel scene to where it is today. The race starts in Spring Valley and meanders all over hell from there. The course is HILLY but gorgeous. The weather seems to change daily but appears to be overcast skies and 58 degrees, perfect. Hoping the rain holds off. I learned a lot from my TransIowa attempt, so I'm feeling pretty confident going in. Not confident in my placing but in finishing and having fun. I know several of the people signed up for Royal so is should be a good time. Being the introvert that I am I won't say much but being in good company always helps!
Out.
