Getting Back on the Horse.

Yeah it's been awhile.
Once out of the habit of blogging it's hard to jump back in.
Too much time has passed for me to do my traditional "recap". But it's been much of the same: work, ride, family stuff, repeat.

This past Sunday afternoon Jen and I headed up north, Baxter, to do a mini celebration of our 12 year anniversary. Had a great meal, spent the night, and headed over to Cuyuna in the morning. Jen dropped be off to ride 2 hours by myself and she would meet me later to ride and hour.

The trails and riding are pretty fun. I can see how riding there often would help get a flow down. There seems to be too many connecting trails and/or other trail options.
I did get a flat that I was warned about. A nice slit in the sidewall. It was just big enough to not allow the Stan's to seal. I inflated it several times until I said screw it and rode out to the parking lot to put a tube in. The horse/deer flies are ridiculous. No time for idle time.
Jen showed up as I was putting the tube in. Changing a flat, in the rear, on the Selma Ti Single Speed is the easiest I've done. Nice.

Jen and I pushed out around 12:27. We rode about an hour. This was Jen's first time on a MTB this year and maybe in 2 years. She did awesome. Only one crash but nothing serious. We got back to the van just before 1:30, or so.
About an hour was all it took for someone to smash our van window. At first it appeared they didn't take anything. But later realized my shorts were missing. Which contained my wallet and all the things a wallet has. Shit.
Another vehilce was broken into. They lost their GPS.

I wasn't too bummed. We called the credit card companies and canceled the cards, etc. On the ride home the air conditioning couldn't keep up with an open window so we just shut it off. In silence I sat there driving, sweating, and stewing about my stolen wallet. I got pissed.
I think I am more mad that I didn't take better care to "hide" my wallet than the fact that someone stole it. But it was the middle of the day at a paved trail head parking lot and boat landing. Cars weren't coming and going but every few minutes it seemed someone was coming by...so it wasn't a super secluded area. Ugh, just sucks.

Not only was my wallet stolen but my keys and pocket knife. My key chain had my sobriety medallion on it from Recovery Plus. I'm not too bummed about that but Jen seems to be more so. This Wednesday, tomorrow, is 3 years sober for me.
So time to celebrate that and forget the wallet. What's done is done.

The Tuesday Road Ride is going to be a pretty damn hot one, but it's still on, despite the efforts of Shouse Torino. Come with more than 2 bottles.

Stay cool.

Out.

Happy 12th and 3rd Anniversary Doom's! And I'm sorry about the wallet fiasco. Sending super bad karma to the perpetrators...

Wax4Today a competing site with Wax of the day (which sucks) says congrats as well. 3 years is a short step to 30+!
