Despite the intense heat and humidity this week I've gotten some pretty good n fun rides in. Wednesday I headed out in the morning hoping to avoid some of the said heat and humidity...no luck, it was thick and hot.
The wind was again out of the south so I headed down the infamous county road 8. Per usual I didn't have a route planned. Turns out I pretty much did the same thing as the Tuesday ride. A few different turns hear and there put me at 80 miles in 4 hours 20 minutes. I was starting to feel the affects (or is it effects...see this is why I need Landis around) of two days of heat riding. By my lack of peeing and the color of my pee I knew I was pretty dehydrated.
At work I felt "funky" most of the day. Pounded fluids all day and night, bringing myself back to "normal".
Thursday I got out at 1 with Mr. Anderson and Lance. This was to be an over distance ride, as Mr. Anderson prefers to call them.
The weather was text book perfect. Low humidity, sunny, not too warm, and a slight breeze. I haven't ridden too much this year with these guys either so it was great to spend some saddle time with them.
We headed north towards Rice. We ended up taking several new roads to all of us. This involved gravel sections and a 1 mile, or so, section on the ATV portion of the SooLine Trail! Lance treated us to some back road rollers into Avon. Awesome roads. Stats: 88 miles, 4 hours 45 minutes.
The legs are a bit tired this morning. Plan on heading out for a 2 hour spin to move shit around. Of course I turned the air off yesterday and it feels as the humidity is creeping back up. That was short lived.
Tonight is Jim White's Celebration of Life Party. Looking forward to it. I tend to think a lot about Jim on my solo rides. I miss him coming into the shop for repair work, trail reports, financial advice (from Harry not me!), and just some good 'ol BS. Miss ya Jim. Be sure to "pop a wheelie".
Out.

NOT ALWAYS, but a great percentage of the time, AFFECT is the verb, EFFECT is the noun. So you can affect someone, and the effect could be wonderful. MOM
Sorry to hear about J.W.. definitely a class character and a good man. Wish I could've been there for the ride.
And you.. stay hydrated!
