The Tuesday Night Road Ride was a success with some hiccups. The weather did it's best to deter us from starting but 10 or so of us pushed off from the shop. About 5 miles out the skies would spit on us intermittently. Nothing too bad. Once we were far enough south we were out of the rain, and all appeared to be good. Not to be. Once in Clear Lake the skies opened and it rained on us the rest of the ride. Riding in the rain by yourself is ok but with a group it sucks. Spray was flying everywhere. I'm still removing sand from my eyes.
I believe I am losing my desire to "drill" it on the Tuesday rides. My legs and brain were not feeling the desire, or ability, to push it. This tends to happen to me this time of year, with the pull and desire to mountain bike becoming very strong, (Note: trail work at the North Loop this Thursday at 5:30).
Flying through town on our way to the shop and the waiting end of ride BBQ we had a rider slide out and go down on a wet corner. I saw sparks fly and thought of Jan Ulrich in the tour pushing his limits to make up time on Lance. No one was hurt so on to the BBQ we went.
It was a nice way to top of the season of riding with a great group of guys. Had a blast riding this year.
I'm not saying the Tuesday rides are officially over, but it does get dark pretty darn quick. They maybe over for me...hmmm.
Later.
