The ride to my parent's cabin went well. I started out a bit before 5:30. It's no longer the middle of summer, it's dark out there. Yes I had flashers on.
Once in Avon I jumped on the Wobegon Trail. I put my ear buds in and went to turn my iPod on...dead battery, damn. I was concerned that the monotony of the trail would drive me nuts (arrgg...inside joke) but it wasn't bad at all.
I had a cross/headwind while on the trail. Once in Garfield I headed North into to some pretty good hills but with a tailwind. 104 miles with a 20mph avg.
Spent the day in the lake or watching the kids swim in the lake. Man do they have a lot of energy! I actually took a 45 minute nap! I never nap.
I still need to pack for the Tri up in Nevis tomorrow. We head out this afternoon. As it approaches I wish I wasn't doing it. There seems to be a slew of other things I'd rather be doing: Salsa 24 at Afton, State Road Race, Bluegrass Festival at El Rancho Mannana, etc. But I'm in and doing it. It will be a good time, it was a blast last year. I found out last night I will have a wet suit to wear too. I've been told it's like cheating to use on. Good, I need all the help I can on the swim.
Later.
