The official logo for the 2012 Trans Iowa is out. Have to say it's pretty damn sweet! I have yet to decide if I want to attempt this mother of all gravel races again. Currently I am not feeling it, but who knows. This Thursday is September 1st! Man, summer went fast this year. However, that is when veterans can register for the Arrowhead 135, sweet.
September 4th there is a gravel race in Lacrosse, the Skullsplitter 50. At first I scoffed at 50 miles but then remembered that is bluff country. I'm guessing there will be some elevation gain. Half toying with hitting this up. Sunday and Monday plans are not yet set so...per usual, time will tell.
Tonight is most likely, unfortunately, one of the last few Tuesday Night Road Rides from the shop. The daylight has significantly been reduced. Tonight we will celebrate the Tuesday ride season with a BBQ after the ride. Come on down.
I am always up for extending the rides into the season if others want to. I have lights to light em up. We could even jump into mtn bikes and hit up all the trails in town. As we move into fall the weeds and shrubbery die down, all good for mountain biking.
I'm about 95% certain that next Tuesday morning I will join a Masters Swim Club at SCSU. Last year I wanted to, but chickened out. I just need to do it. I do want to learn how to swim better for the one tri I do a year! But it also allows me to mix it up with what I am doing. I love, and I mean love, biking but sometimes you just need to do something else. Oh yeah, Luke, if you're reading this bring my rollerskis, boots, and poles to the shop...it's time!
So far I've been on my operation of "healthy" eating for 4 days. All is good. However, a bowl of cereal, measured out, before a ride doesn't work too well. Top that off with forgetting any kind of energy for on the bike...equals Ben bonking (pulling a Matt) hard. I have not bonked like that for a very long time, if ever. Lesson learned.
Later.

You really need to start thinking about Paris-Brest-Paris in the future. Close to 750 miles in less then 90 hours.
