I get asked that a lot (the question in the blog title). Especially after a big ride. Yesterday morning I did 113 miles before work. This meant I had to be on the bike by 5:30. So the alarm went off at 4:10 and I reluctantly got out of bed around 4:20.
So I guess that's a fair question. Otherwise why would a person get 5 hours of sleep, ride almost 6 hours, then work a full day? No I'm not really training for anything specific...I am a bit of an addict and maybe a bit crazy. I keep waiting to "burn out" of feel like it's "work" but so far that hasn't happened! As long as I enjoy it and it doesn't strain my commitments elsewhere (too much!) I'll keep doing it.
In the back of my mind I am getting excited for the Arrowhead 135. I know it is still 6 months away but time has been flying and, as they say: the grass is always greener. I have some modifications I will be doing to the Pugsley and plan on riding it soon too. I really want to dial in the position, etc before the snow flies.
OK ride details from yesterday.
STC, St. Stephen, North Prairie, Little Falls, Swanville, Upsala, St. Ana or Rosa (can't remember), Avon, St. Joseph, STC. 113 miles, 19.2 avg, 5 hours 46 minutes. All was good.
NOTE:
This coming Tuesday Road Ride will be a more moderate pace for several, if not all of the riders. There are several of us with upcoming events this weekend: Ore to Shore, Northwoods Tri, and the State Road Race. Currently I am doing the Tri but I am trying to see if I can do the road race too. It's all about logistics at this point.
Time to ride a 2 hour recovery ride.
Later.
