A true sign that you're aging is when you have to stare at the computer screen and think real hard at what you did the past few days...that or it wasn't very memorable!
Friday I was pretty wishy washy about riding. It was cold, I mean actually it was cold, and windy. I put it out on twitter and FaceBook and got the encouragement, or name calling, I needed. Layered up and out the door.
I headed south, with the wind, to give myself a bit of time to "warm up" to the weather. Turning east I was hit on the left side by the wind. I knew instantly it was going to hurt. Out by Briggs Lake I turned north and faced the brunt of the wind. Whoa...the single speed was not the bike to ride today! 8-10 mph was the norm at times. Whatever had warmed up on the way out was now on it's way to getting cold. I stopped and battened down the hatches, trying to be fancy...I zipped everything up.
Thoughts of calling it early and heading home filled my head. Just make it to Duelm and go from there was my mantra. Rode a bit North of Duelm and made the turn towards home. About 3 hours of ride time. Glad I went...but ready for spring, I've given up on winter!
Saturday I was at Winter Fest at Riverside park for 4 hours. Not the event that was planned but a lack of snow and single digits temps do that. I was surprised at the number of folks and kids that did come to try out xc skiing...I hope they liked it.
Later on I made it to the gym for an hour+ of fun.
Sunday I worked. Headed out for a trail run in the morning. I assumed the North Loop would be an ice skating rink, but was excited to see it wasn't too bad. I did go down once but no injuries! 1.5 hours.
That's about it. Tomorrow I head to Madison, WI to check out skis, etc for next year...funny, I'm not too excited!
Out.
