I had yesterday off from work and work the weekend. This hasn't been the best week for riding. Pretty sure I only got out Tuesday for the night gravel ride. I did run on Wednesday, Rejuv on Thursday, and the gym on Monday, but that's not riding. Friday was to be a makeup day!
I jumped on the La Cruz, stepped on the pedals, and pop, pop. Ugh new chain on an old cassette equals skipping. I've had pretty good luck with this not happening. One, I replace my chains pretty often and two have the Sram Powerdome which tends to be more impervious to wear. Well it's time has come. I'm ok with that since I really don't like that cassette at all. The step down 1070 is a fraction of the cost, much quieter, and less finicky.
Back home swapped out with and older 1070 cassette...back on the road in 10 minutes. Didn't even freak out!
Overall the wind was low, but was out of the NW for most of the day. I haven't ridden up the Pirate's Cove road for sometime, so that was my escape route from the Cloud.
Ride went something like this: STC, Sartell, Rice, North Praire, Bowlus, Elmdale, Swanville, Upsala, Holdingford, St. Rosa, STC.
108 miles: about 4 hours gravel and 2+ asphalt. Great day and a great ride. Felt really good on the La Cruz. Happy since I haven't put much time on that bike in awhile. Overall I was happy with the Shwalbe Supreme tires, 700x35. They did wash out some, but have been riding the Fargo with 29x1.95 tires almost exclusively lately, so blaming my lackadaisical handling.
At the furthest point out, Swanville, I freaked out a bit. What if Jen called and said it was go time? My head was racing on the fastest way home and who I could call to come pick me up? Well nothing happened. Jen is so ready to get the show on the road. Let's go Harper!
Later that afternoon/evening we met up with the kids at the Earth Day Half Marathon Expo. They ran the kids 1K Fun Run. I ran with Avery. She rocked it! She had a smile on her face the entire time. Good times.
Today is the half. They run by our house about a block away. I was going to go the gym and do some kettle bell action but forgot about the race. Gonna go cheer on the runners before work.
Later.
