Going back a bit, to Thursday...
I didn't get as much riding in as usual last week so Thursday at the gym I tossed some squats and dead lifts into my routine. Which, as of late, doesn't involve much lifting.
Friday, boy did I feel my legs! Tried to spin them out for an hour on the trainer before I headed over to Rejuv. Tim introduced me to the sled...good timing. The 'ol legs were screaming at me near the end. It was good! Did a lot of balancing exercises too. I'm getting better, but still need work. It's on going.
Saturday was a day off from work. The weather ended up being phenomenal. I had no idea. I decided to forgo Jimmy's Hill Ride, slept in (9 hours!), hung with the family, and did a lot of yard work. Left for a ride around 2:30 on the Fargo. Jen could or could not have a kid any day now. I must have checked my phone a dozen times on the ride. God forbid I don't ride with music so I could actually hear my phone!
I rode some of the original Dirt Bag course. Also checked out a section of public hunting land. Thought it would be pretty cool to incorporate into the Dirt Bag some season. First off, the Fargo handles pretty darn well as a mountain bike. The trail started off great but about a mile or so in kind of just disappeared. I pushed on, now more hiking. After a few ticks and lots of spider webs I called it and back tracked. I am still determined it makes a loop, just need to go out there when I have more time.
Ended with 3.5 hours of riding.
Sunday was a rainy day. I saw what appeared to be a lull in the rain. Geared up, headed to the garage, to only see it was raining pretty good. A 15 minute wait was all it took and I was on the bike: Surly Cross Check, singled and fendered. Another 15 minutes is all it took to start raining again. I actually really like riding in the rain, just hate the work that is involved when the ride is done.
Rode a mixture of gravel and asphalt. The gravel was pretty slow, especially into the wind. I had to stand and mash the gears on some of the sections of gravel into the wind. Pretty fine ride. 3 hours complete.
It was then off to work. I thought it would be a casual day. Nope, chaos. The day flew by!
This upcoming week appears to be similar to the last. Taking it day by day.
Out.
