Hammer Time?!

What a weird week.  My sister is in town with her two kids, Jen left stupid early this morning with Harper to Florida, and I have a MTB to prep for this weekend.  Lots going on.
That being said I haven't had much thinking or writing time...so I robbed a section from the West Side Dirty Benjamin blog:

By the time the leaders reached the Brraapp!! section, the pack was down to about a dozen with many not far behind. About 7 miles before the finish, 4 broke free and decided to hit each other with all they got...Attack! Close the gap! Attack!....Brian Koeneman, Hollywood Henderson, Ted Loosen, and Keith Bianchi ended in a group sprint in that order. With Brian taking the Open Men class in 5:30 with an average speed of over 19.5 mph!! WTF? On gravel? Ben Doom came in two minutes later on a single speed! That's right, 5:32 for 107 miles on a single...over 19.5 mph...Give him some glasses and puffy pants cause it was Hammer Time!

Ah, MC Hammer...not gonna lie I was a fan!

Just like the previous two years the Dirty Benjamin didn't disappoint.  Good people, good race, leads to good times.  Thanks Dirty Benjamin peeps.

Super glad I decided to ride single speed.  Lots of fun.  Even more glad I went with the gearing of 41/16 and not 41/17.  The Braap (off road) section was the only real time when the single speed kicked my butt.  It was at this point that I lost the lead pack.  Ziemer and I, mostly Ziemer, tried to bridge the gap...but it just wasn't happening.  We kept it steady to the finish.  Ziemer gratiously gave me the go ahead for 6th place, although he deserved it.  I was somewhat glad to take it since 6th place tends to be my spot.  Ask Brinna, she finds it funny that I've had more 6th place finishes than any other.  I'll take it.

Alright time to go bleed some brakes, blah.

Out.
