I suppose it's a bit like clockwork. Every year, around this time, I get a case of the blahs. School is out, leaving the family home for the summer. I too want to stay home for the summer! It lasts about a week, then I am able to fall back into my routine and all is groovy.
This year is a bit harder. Having Harper joining our family is pretty damn cool. While she doesn't do much I do dig her smiles and jibber jabber. Plus Brinna and Avery ask me everyday if I work the next day or if I'm biking and when I'll get home. Starting to reevaluate my priorities and not feel guilty about doing them...staying home and not riding, etc.
Monday was an off day.
Tuesday I skipped the night road ride from the shop and cruised for 2 hours while the kids were at gymnastics. Met them at home to cook dinner together.
Wednesday I was planning to ride but looked like rain so I slept two extra hours! No rain...damn. It did come later so I felt better about my choice. Yeah, I'm still working on the not guilty thing. Did hit the gym up for a bit swinging some Kettle Bells. Blisters to prove it. Awesome, fast workout!
Spending the morning with the family was a great thing!
Thursday I didn't have any solid plans. Thought I may ride but rain was likely so gym again? Thunderstorms rule so I crawled into bed with the girls a bit and took it all in.
May take the girls to the gym this afternoon. I rock the short shift today, 9-12. Was planning on giving my mtb the once over in preparation for the Cheq. 100 but that seems too much like planning ahead...time to procrastinate. Only have to install new bars and brakes and bleed said brakes. Ha...like that ever goes smoothly!
Also pondering the gearing for the upcoming Westside Dirty Benjamin this Saturday. I've done it in the past with 41/17 and it was awesome. Currently have a 41/16 setup on and wonder if that's too steep. Pretty sure I just gonna run what ya brung but can't help think about it. If it rains a lot and looks like rain on Saturday I most likely will toss the 17 back on.
Out.
