Something Has To Give...

Last Thursday Night, at the MTB ride, I was asked how my riding was compared to last year.  I said about the same.  They responded with, "even with a new one at home?"  I was all like, Yeah.  But I've been thinking about that.
Since school has started life has been a bit nutz.  Not out of the ordinary from others in our same shoes.  But toss in a guy that tries to do some form of activity 15-20 hours a week and things get a bit blurry.  It seems we are always on the go.  Chaos and clutter are starting to be the norm at home.  Maybe it's because we are still finding our groove with three kids but I have a feeling my absence has something to do with it.
I try to do most of my riding when the family is sleeping, early or late, or when they are gone at school.  But this leaves me tired and leaches my time away from other thing I should be doing around the house.

I guess what I'm trying to say and work out is I need to ride less.  Ugh...that's hard for an addict like me!  I honestly feel that I'm not an absent parent (since I do a majority of my riding when others are sleeping) but may be an absent contributing family member.  Shit I don't know.  Just feel I need to chill a bit.
So yeah, still going to ride just not 3, 4, 5...hours.  Need to be ok with 2.  This week I've actually ridden a lot of 1.5 hour chunks and have been happy with that.  Once mid October hits I will need to ramp things up a bit more for Tuscobia and Arrowhead training but hopefully by then we've found our Groove!

And with all that being said I gotta go...late for a ride!  Time flies!

Later.

...starting tomorrow!  Addict.

Ben, I'm in the same boat. Our kid is 15 months old, and since he's been born, I only get about 60-75 minutes of aerobic exercise 4-5 days a week, then I also lift 2-3 days per week early morning. My riding or skiing occurs 50% of the time with a kid on my back, or in a bike trailer, so really, it's even more limited.

That said, I feel 90% as fit as I've ever been. I just focus on staying lean, eating healthy, and just enjoying the little time I have.

Honestly, I really don't miss those long days in the saddle, or on skis. Now that I'm getting older, less seems like more.
