Friday Night Lights.

Not football, but gravel...lot's of gravel.

So Hurl of Cars-R-Coffins tossed a challenge out last January: ride a century every month for the year of 2012...12 in 12.  Dubbed the teamcrc challenge.
Why not?
It's actually been pretty fun and motivating.  I ride a lot of 100+ miles but this month would not have been if not for teamcrc.
With time running out I decided last night was the night.  The family is gone.  If I didn't ride I'd probably lay on the couch flipping channels.

Jumped work a bit early.  On the bike rolling north around 5.  With the cloud cover and time of year it was pretty dark by 6:30.  I as set for the dark.  Two flashers in the back, one up front, 150 lumens on the helmet, 1400 lumens on the bars, and the awesome Mavic reflective vest.  It must work as cars damn near hit the opposite ditch going around me.
Stuck to a lot of gravel roads or low grade paved roads in hopes of keeping traffic at a minimum.

Route (kind of): STC, airport, just west of Foley, east of Gilman, Mile Lacs County, not sure where but the gravel road I was on t'd up on 169.  Too much traffic so I back tracked, rode a long time,  running out of food and water, hit Nature Road...which I know goes into Royalton but I was on the start at the opposite end, came upon a gas station/bar but too chicken to go in, mile later another gas station/bar but was empty...refueled, saw a sign for Hillman 11(right) miles or Ronneby 17 (left)miles, I went straigt , eventually almost back to Gilman, and home.
100 miles, 6 hours, 11:40 (I think).

Had a really good time and super glad I did it.  Had plans of riding cty rd 8 this morning to "spin" the legs but need to get to work to finish a gravel bike for a customer/friend.  He's doing the Dirt Bag and needs to test out his new wheels!  Braaap.

Out.
