Had some "lovely" gym time yesterday morning, followed by work, a meal with the family, then on to the Monday Night MTB Ride.
The two oldest kids are leaving with my mom for an MEA vacation on Wednesday so I stuck around home a bit longer to help pack and hang out.
I did get an hour of riding in before the group met. Funny thing is there were a couple others out in the woods doing the same thing.
I kind of like having an hour to myself and my music. Not sure if I was lost in the music or if it was the super dry, leaf covered ground...but I went down hard in a corner without any warning. Laid there a bit. All is good but the wind was knocked out of me a bit...been a long time since that's happened.
Matt R., Charlie S., Cadillac Jeff, and Tyler joined me at 8:30. We did a lap forward and a lap backwards. Good times and great weather. Surprised more didn't show up!
Jen has conferences tonight so I'm running solo with the kids. We have to go shoe shopping. Wish me luck. Three gilrs: 9, 6, and 6 months old. No wonder I have grey hair!
Per normal teacher behavior they are going out to booze it up afterwards so I'm in for the long haul. (gonna catch shit for that last sentence)
Gym again this morning. Believe the kettlebell is calling my name. Not going to have time for a ride. Wednesday is shaping up to be a good gravel night ride, 8:30 at the shop, plan on 3 hours.
In my head I told myself that this was the "official" week that I would begin training for my upcoming winter rides. But the week is here and I don't feel any different!!!
In talking with Jen and knowing how I feel I don't think I'm going to go hog wild with the miles. I always ride and always will. I hope to go big once a week, have a cross type deal for speed, and toss in whatever for the rest. I suck at rest and recovery so hope to include that too...important, I know. I have also started the "cleaning" of my diet. So far no diet soda in one day!
All right enough rambling and jumping around.
Later.
Oh yeah thanks to Ron and Matt for offering to cover my shifts this weekend so I could race. I work with great people.
But I'm going to work. Being around on weekends is good too. Just never enough time to get it all in.
