It's a Wrap.

It's come and it's gone.
Just like Christmas Day as a kid.  The Dirt Bag has been on my mind for sometime and in the span of a day it's gone for another year.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with how everything went down.  We had an awesome crew of riders.  Everyone seemed to be having a good time and for Brian and I that's the goal.  No injuries, no riders were lost minus the one cue card screw up, the weather turned out to be great, and everyone that wanted some got chili!
The race was won in a four way tie (Skarpohl, Schad, Toftoy, and Talerio)...these guys were flying!  They finished the day with 5 hrs 22 minutes, about 20 mph!  The next group was over 5 minutes back.  Nice job to everyone that toed the starting line.  Brian and I thank you.

The only downside for me would be the overall attendance.  We officially let in around 120 riders, knowing some just won't show.  As the days and weeks moved past our cut off date we let more riders in...I just suck at saying no.  For awhile I was nervous we would have too many riders.  But then the emails came in of riders pulling out.  But really that was only a solid handful.
Only 64 riders stood at the start line this past Saturday morning.
I'm guessing the weather was a big reason why.  But the weather turned out to be a riders dream.  The up in distance too may have been a factor but from previous years it was only 14 more miles.
As such, we planned for 100+...including insurance...thus we are several hundred $$$ in the hole.  While this sucks it is the risk we knew we were taking when putting on an AGRS event.
We rely on t-shirt sales and rider donations to help ease the $$ pain.  Running 40 riders short was the difference.
The Dirt Bag will go on!  I have ideas for registration and attendance accountability already in the works for next year.  About 5 minutes after the start Brian was already discussing the lead out for next year!  It's apart of us now.
Again it was an awesome day.  The smiles on riders faces as they completed 104-111 miles was worth any $$$ we may have lost.

Thank You.

Sunday was Fridley CX and it was my plan to do it.  But midday Saturday I was pretty damn tired and felt more like an all day ride.  So Sunday I jumped on the Fargo and headed to Coon Rapids where my in-laws live.  It wasn't a strong wind but a headwind the entire way.  I got beat down but enjoyed every minute of it.  Not a regret in my body about not doing CX.  Ended with 4 hours and 70 miles.  Followed by an awesome meal.

Tonight is Monday Night Lights.  8:30 at the North Loop.

Out.

Did you find a pair of winter biking shoes at the park? If so, I'll give you more details so I can retrieve them. After 100+ miles on a Pugsley more was shot than my body! Thanks for the great day and well run event!
