Excuses.

The Monday Night Lights MTB ride last night whooped up on me.  I was spent.  It started in the garage when I applied some lube to the Pugs.  The BB on that bike has been getting more and more sluggish but last night it took some effort to spin the cranks.  So at the start I had that in my mind.

Before I reach the North Loop I have to climb the smallest of hills.  For whatever reason this hill always leaves me breathing hard but last night I was glad I was alone.  Whoo, whoo...freight train coming!
We met up (6 of us, we'd loose Charlie 10 minutes in to a broken chain) and made the trek over to the south side trails.  The whole time over I felt the pace was too "hot" and I was becoming the old guy that wants it his way and that's it!  The legs felt like they did squats the day before.  I did run but have been off the bike for a few days.

The south trails were fun, however, and we put in some good time.  Back to the east side.  Hit up the river trails where we were treated to Jeff doing a cannonball into some stinky mud!  From here we went back to the North Loop.  I was done, but had someone said let's do a loop I was forcing myself to go.  But we all felt the same and I rode home with my tail between my legs.
The desired 3 hours was a moderately paced 2 hours that kicked my butt...ouch.

Some days we have it some days we don't.  I'm blaming the BB!

I'm on kid watching mode tonight so a gym day.  Then some good riding Wednesday and Thursday.  Hoping for Friday too as the weekend appears to be shot with our High School Nordic Team Day at the shop and two swaps I'm attending.  I seriously need to find a road bike to put on the trainer.

Later.
