Fat Bike Century.

As I was getting all my gear ready for my ride yesterday I realized I had a lot of time and decided I should take advantage of it.  I was riding the Salsa Mukluk and I was going to ride 100 miles.

Last Thursday I also rode the Mukluk for 85 miles and moved at a pretty good clip.  Yesterday was different.  The light breeze turned into a pretty well sustained North wind.  A lot of the gravel I encountered was recently added to, so a nice, soft top coat to slow me down.  I kept telling myself it's like riding on snow!

I zigged and zagged East and North and eventually all North for a good chunk of time.  I knew I was coming up on the Soo Line ATV trail and thought I'd take that across hwy 10.  But my fears (if they can be called that) turned out to be true and the trail was closed during hunting.  They do open back up Dec. 1st in time for some snow action.
A little further North and West brought me to Little Falls.  Found some amazing Minimum Maintenance roads that the Fat Bike tackled with ease.  Twisty, treed, and fast...awesome.

I didn't calculate the amount of food I would need very well so had to find a gas station to refuel.  A Snickers bar never tasted so good.

Almost 7 hours later and 101 miles I was back home with just under a 15 mph average.  I feel fine now, but I was pretty tired at the end of the ride.  I had fun but was ready to be done.

The rest of the week is a going to be a blur.  I work today.  Head up to Brainard this afternoon to drop stuff off for a ski swap, come home, head back up to Brainard in the morning for the swap, head back to the shop to finish out our Team Day, head to an awards ceremony for Jen, Sunday head to a ski swap in Mora, home, and bed...Monday!

Should all be just fine.

Have a good weekend.

Later.
