I did get out yesterday for 3+ hours. Again on the studded Pugs. I bad mouthed studs on fat bikes in the past...I take it all back, and some. Absolutely awesome and necessary. The cost is up there but they should last several season. The snowmobile trails are actually a lot of fun. Some rough spots but overall they are very fast...just lots of ice to watch out for. Even with studs I'd be leery of ripping through the woods at night. Hitting the deck hard could really hamper my season, (getting old)!
Getting excited for the looming sub zero high days next week. It's short lived so I'm cool with it. I will be getting out on the bike to redial in my cold weather gear...bring it!
My summer is started to shape up and fill up with races. Thus far....
- April: Trans Iowa V9, 320+ miles of gravel
- May: Nellie, 400 miles of gravel
- June: WestSide Dirty Benjamin, 100 miles of gravel
- June: Chequamegon 100, 100 miles of single track
Most excited for the the Nellie. It's far enough that I won't ride straight on through. Plan on doing a night of camping. It's more a test of endurance than a race. Just hoping for nice weather!
Later.
