Well since the last post no one from Western Mountaineering has contacted me with offers of a free bag...so that dream is shot.
Sunday was awesome! I slept in a tad, but was still out on the skis by 9. Got in two solid hours. Really enjoying the skiing lately. Once home we took down the xmas tree and whatnot. Then it was hike time. Jen, all 3 girls, the gimpy dog, and I explored some down by the mighty Mississippi River. The girls has a blast and were jacked when I pulled out hot chocolate and snacks half way through. It ended up getting a bit long but they powered through. Need more days like that.
Yesterday was just a gym day. I had plans for a night ride too but have pushed that off till tonight...maybe. Instead I hung out with the family and (make fun all you want) watched The Biggest Loser (which yeah, I know, may make me the biggest loser). But whatever, it was good.
After the kids get dropped off at school I'm off to the ski trails again. Also may night ride tonight but then again maybe not. Wednesday and Thursday I will be riding a lot so I'm not too worried...ok just a bit but that's who I am.
In other news Garmin released two to Edge (cycling specific) GPS computers: the 510 and 810. Most don't need or want the on screen mapping capabilities of the 800 series but I for one love it and use it a lot. Both for navigation and something to look at on long rides. Not much has changed with the 810. You do get an extra hour or so of "possible" run time, some extra features allowing you to connect with your smart phone and do stuff I'm not too keen on. It does however send you weather alerts and whatnot which I think is rad. The body and screen are the same. A bit bummed as the screen does scratch. While not a huge deal $650 is a lot of money and I want to take care of it.
The 510 is pretty sweet. Gets all the above upgrades plus a 20 hour run time and uses some Russian satellites. Which means it finds a signal faster and is much stronger so mtb it should be way more accurate. So why not the 810 too?
Lastly, the DropKick Murphy's has a new cd out today. I'm on it.
Later.
-thought about adding pictures and a bunch of hyperlinks but got lazy.
