Arrowhead 135 Goals.

Before this race I usually type out my goals here on this blog.  As much as change can suck and turn us in another direction, it happens and we just have to roll with it.

Before I broke a bone in my hand back in early November I hoped to, maybe, win the Tuscobia 150 and hopefully get my name drawn from the winners for an entrance into the 2015 ITI, my overall goal...a true bucket list event.
But that all changed.  With my broken hand and broken spirit I pulled out of the Tuscobia 150 and focused on healing and getting in some sort of shape for the Arrowhead.

My original goal for the AH135 was pretty much the same as previous years: stay the same or move up.  I've gotten 5th, 5th, and 4th.  But again this has changed.
I feel better (in shape) than I thought I would be.  I'm carrying some extra pounds that I wanted to shed, but I tend to eat when I can't ride...not good! So the goals have changed.  To finish and and in one piece is the ultimate goal, but staying in the top 10 is a goal too, but not one that I will be deflated if I can't achieve.  The pressure of performing is lifted and I plan on enjoying this -20 degree race as much as I can!
Looking at the start list I know there are a ton of good riders toeing the line once again this year.  Which I'm glad, makes it fun.  The people are why most of us do these crazy races anyway.

So come Monday morning at 7 am I will be off on the 10th running of the Arrowhead 135.  I plan to have a smile on my face and wheel on Charly Tri...for a bit!  Actually rooting for Charly this year, he's in great shape and a great guy that most don't get!
Getting excited.
Maybe I should start packing?  Nah, that's what Saturday is for!

Later.

While I do ride my bike though out the winter, I have no idea how you guys accomplish this. Guessing it has to do with training, gear, and grit. (Now realize I am missing at least 2 of the 3.)

Good luck Ben. I'm sure you'll do great again.

Ben, on the starting line don't ease up on yourself. Rubbing is racing, and you never know what might happen. As I just heard Tracey Petervary say, "I don't enter a race to get second place." Believe brother, believe.
