As stated in the previous post I've been able to get a lot of hours on the fat bike this week, currently at 19.5 hours. Funny but my first Arrowhead took about that long.
Yesterday I drove out the the park-n-ride in St. Joseph. My favorite snowmobile trails start there. At about 9 miles in you come to a juncture, left goes to Rockville and right goes to Richmond. I went right. At Richmond the trail jumps on the path by hwy 23, the worst section but still good. In Cold Spring the trail runs through town and over people's yards, kind of weird. Eventually the trail heads towards Rockville and some good hills! This comes back to the previous T and 9 miles back in.
I wasn't sure how long it would take, 4.5 hrs. I was hoping for a bit more but what the hell, it was perfect.
Once home I obsessed about routes. Studying the snowmobile trail map of Benton and Stearns Counties I plotted out an 82 mile route, all on trails. Not sure if I will be able to put together the time, guessing 10 hours, but it's the hope.
I planned on taking today off but there are about 10 of us going out tonight on fat bikes! Can't turn that down. Tomorrow will be an off day.
While the warmer temps feel good I hate how nasty and brown the roads and snow get. We could really use a fresh batch.
Get out and ride!
Later.
