Spring Wind.

I know, I know...two days off the bike is not a big deal.  But the way these weeks have been, two days feels like an eternity. So yes, on Wednesday I finally got out.  Walking to my car after work almost canceled my plans to ride.  Chilly with a stiff NW wind.  Not wanting to ride NW I opted to go with the wind a bit and meander my way to the NW near the end.  Needless to say the first part of the ride was much easier than the rest.  My hope of the wind dying down as the afternoon turned into evening never really happened.  No matter it was good to be out riding.

No speed records but loving the Cutthroat.  And look at the time and still light out!

Thursday was slotted to be warmer but still breezy.  The wind was WNW so I headed up the river road on the Cutthroat.  I changed my mind numerous times on the route to take.  To Little Falls then west? Maybe Randall then west?  I didn't make it to Little Falls as I wanted off pavement and onto gravel.  So west I went.  Maybe I didn't look at the weather too well but I didn't think it was supposed to be as windy as it was, or felt.  Man it was a struggle at times.  Soft gravel, rolling hills, and WIND.

Eventually I made it to Swanville, where I would normally start my way for home.  But I pushed on west and north, almost to Long Prairie.  There I turned south with a few more stints to the west.  Wanting to avoid the Bermuda Triangle that is Holdingford I pushed on south for a good clip.  At Melrose I jumped on the Wobegon Trail and cruised with the tailwind.

I swear there was more climbing than this?!

Sunrise is somewhere around 6:30.  I hope to be out for a ride by then.  Nothing crazy just a couple hours on the Moots before work.  Plus the wind if only in the low single digits!

In other news I've been missing and wanting an All City Nature Boy (canti brake) frame to replace the Surly Cross Check slop bike.  They are hard to come by.  I've been on again off again looking for the past few years.  Last night one popped up on the Twin Cities Trading Page on FB.  My size, good shape, and the color (light green and white) I wanted.  Boom...I jumped on it and it's mine.  Just need to figure out how to get it.  It's in St. Paul.  I had this bike when it first came out.  It fits me so much better than the Cross Check.  Excited to get it built up (with the parts from the Surly).

Happy Weekend.
