Sponsor Request: Coke.

My family is gone to my folks cabin to catch a little R&R after a crazy end of the school year.  I'm stuck at home working...ha!  I'm not much of a "going to the cabin" person so I'm very ok with this.  Thursday I took my time getting up and ready to ride.  I recently did some upgrades to the Moots (AXS, new handlebars, and 42mm tires) so I took that out on it's madden voyage.  Amazing.

The wind could not make up it's mind yesterday.  The predicted direction changed from when I went to bed Wednesday night to Thursday morning.  It was now showing W/NW.  Not wanting to go that direction I headed south down county road 8. I made my way over to Kimball and proceeded to go west and north as the roads determined. I started to notice it was getting easier going west than north. I checked my phone and yep, the wind switched.  It was one of those rides where I seemingly had a headwind most of the day.  Luckily it wasn't overly windy.  The gravel itself was dry, soft, and thick.  So glad I jumped up to the 42's, but I was wishing I had the Cutthroat on many sections of gravel.

The sun came and went and the temperature was in the high 70's, 80's near the finish.  The humidity was manageable but still there.  I was pretty warm most of the ride.  I went through my water much faster than normal.  My first stop was in Richmond, only 2.5 hours in.  Refilled with water and grabbed a Coke.  On a home stretch section of the route I stuck to the Wobegon Trail, hiding from the wind.  The monotony of the trail made me sleepy.  I was craving cold fluids too.  In Albany I stopped for my second Coke.  That did the trick!

The Ride.

At home I had 3 40oz bottles (Hydro Flask) of water before bed.  I just couldn't get enough.  My kit and face were salt covered.  I only had to get up once to pee!

The plan is to head back out this morning for 30-40 miles before work.  I have to mow this afternoon than maybe it's a DQ day.  It's much cheaper when it's just me and not all 5 of us!

Happy Weekend.
