Not all rides but some rides take a bit to get in the groove. Yesterday was such a ride. The entire way down county road 8 I was thinking of potential ways to cut the ride short. I changed the route I was doing several times. I finally decided to hit the Dirt Bag route as that left me several options for different routes should I want to change it up. Once I hit the gravel and got the first hour under my belt I was good to go. That first hour was rough, mentally and physically. The next seven were great!
I did the OG Dirt Bag route, or mostly, from the first couple years of the event. I did, however, toss in a few extensions. The first was before crossing Wright County Road 6. I made a run south several miles. I came back to the course not too far from where I left it. The next was after Lanto's gas station in French Lake. Instead of going around Lake Sylvia I made my way around Lake Francis.
If I do the route without the extensions it's around 112 miles. I hit 141 miles for the ride. Both extension were mostly gravel so some good options should the race ever wanted to switch up the route.
The Ride.
The Route.
Heading out shortly for a spin down county road 8. I wonder how many times I ride that road in a year?! Kind of nuts how dark it is in the mornings now. Light season is coming!
