Yesterday's ride made the move from chilly temperatures to cold temps. Much was due to the wind already at 5:30. Air temp was 15 with a feels like of 6. Sure I've ridden in much colder temps, it's just that whole acclimation thing.
I set out on the Cutthroat South, towards the Dirt Bag route. Mid way down county road 8 I noticed how vibrant the starts were. Yep, clear skies! It's been awhile. I was a bit curious how the Sram AXS shifting would hold up in the cold. It's electric shifting, so it runs off a battery. For the duration of the ride it worked flawlessly! My Garmin Varia radar on the other hand starts spitting out low battery warnings an hour in. It has never liked the cold.
About half way through the ride my hands and feet started to get cold. My hands are easy to warm up as I just pull the fingers inside my gloves and make a fist. The feet have to live with it. It wasn't bad. If it gets bad I get off the bike and run a bit to get blood moving to the toes.
