Rides, Races, Covid, School...

This week and next week are short weeks for me at work but damn if it didn't feel like a full week.  Short weeks just mean more stuff gets crammed into everyday!  We had a former employee come back for two weeks, freeing up some time.  Thanks Noah.  The timing was perfect as another former employee (Kyle) that came back for the summer just ended his stint at the shop to head back West to the mountains and snow.

My ride Thursday was delayed a bit as I had another Dr. appointment. This time to get a biopsy done on my nose.  Yeah I have a spot so figured I should get it checked out.  The process was painless, now I wait for the results.

There goes the modeling career.

I was out on the Moots by 9:30.  It's been a long time since I've taken that bike out as I was putting as many miles as I could on the Evergreen with the test Hed wheels.  Electronic AXS shifting, Onyx hubs, titanium...smooth!  A very fun bike.  The wind was SE so I started on the Dirt Bag, again, but continued in the SE direction when the Dirt Bag headed back West.  At Waverly I started my way back home.  Mid 60's, enough wind to make a difference (but no more), sunny skies all made for a top 10 weather day.

The Ride.

Not sure on today yet.  Wouldn't mind making the girls breakfast but who knows what time that would be. They can sleep, given the opportunity.  SW/W winds today.  Thinking the Cutthroat as I've been having fun on that bike as of late.  It'll be a "go with the flow" ride.

At some point today or this weekend I have to work on the yard.  Still a ton of leaves up in the trees but also a bunch on the ground.  We are at the "it's and every weekend thing" stage now.  Otherwise it just becomes too much of a task all at once.

Yesterday Tuscobia opened registration and this Saturday the Arrowhead registration opens up.  I'm out for Tuscobia.  Over 3000 new Covid cases in one day in WI!  The directors have made many smart moves to limit the risk but for me it's just not worth it.  Honestly I haven't missed racing this year.  I guess I don't need the carrot of an upcoming race to stay motivated to ride.
I haven't decided on the Arrowhead yet.  I'm running out of time so I have to decide fast.  Both the Tuscobia and Arrowhead races themselves should most likely be safe but the traveling too and from the race, the hotels, getting food, etc all seem like unnecessary risks at this time...for me.  Not pointing fingers or suggesting others do the same.  This is just me.

Speaking of Covid our county has reached the point of positive cases that grades 6-12 are required to move to full distance learning.  Harper will still do the hybrid thing, for now.  It's still undetermined on what will happen with sports.  Some parents are talking of getting lawyers if sports are postponed/canceled.  WTF?! Are sports that important?!

Last 80 degree day today?  God I hope so!
