Into the deep freeze.

Having Friday off and everyone busy with school I had the day to ride.  It was just the start of the deep freeze we are in now, so it wasn't too bad.

I started at Sand Prairie, hitting all the trails, then up the Prison Hill to the North Loop and Friedrich Park. My initial thought was this would be my ride.  But I was feeling good and still had a bunch of time.  So I skimmed the Race Track and heading for the River Bluffs and Plum Creek.  Both of which, are running great!  Actually all our trails are dang good right now.  It was on these trails I decided to ride till I got 50 miles in.  This deemed another partial lap at the North Loop to the CrossOver and FP.  Great day riding.

It sure takes a long time to reach 50 miles on the fat bike.

Overnight Friday our temps started to drop.  The start of Saturday's ride was -10, I think.  But it was more about the wind.  About halfway through SP the wind really picked up.  So much so I stopped to put up my hood.  Something I really never do.  I finished up SP and heading for the loop and FP.  Yeah, much of the same.  I finished up with 3.5 hours.  The temps never reached 0 but in the woods it was rather nice.

Sunday was colder, -18 with a -34 feels like temperature.  But the sun was out and the wind wasn't as strong as Saturday.  The sun and low wind made a huge difference.  Plus the temps climbed much of the ride.  But again, always negative temps.
This time I started at the River Bluffs and Plum Creek.  I did more "laps" than I normally do.  Especially around the Field of Dreams.  I think I did 8.  I had my hood up giving me tunnel vision.  I was in a zone I guess.
I did check out the Mississippi.  Previously open sections were now froze.  Maybe later this week but I stayed off yesterday.

After the South Side trails I headed back to the North Loop.  Again with the loops on Doom's Return and .3.  Then it was home.  Another 3.5 hours on the day.
Again with the hood.  Frosty but comfy.

Despite the weather it was a great weekend of riding.  The rest of Sunday we did some chores and got ready for the Super Bowl.  No one is too into it but the idea and the food is fun.  Harper and I went to bed shortly into the 3rd quarter!

It appears the cool weather is here for at least the week.  I'm good with that.  But maybe some more snow please.
