Maiden Voyage.

Yeah, yeah I skipped a couple days of blogging.  I didn't have much new to say, other than the same 'ol thing.  Which is probably all I have for today as well but here I am, ha!  I had been doing a Monday, Wednesday, Friday posting but thinking I'll switch to a Tuesday and Thursday.

Mid winter I acquired a new frame to build up with parts I mostly had laying around.  I needed rims, a seatpost, headset and not much more.  But it sat in it's box for a few months before I had Matt from work put it together.  It was finished in time for my trip to SW WI but opted not to bring a never ridden bike on a bike trip.  Then crap weather happened.  Finally this past weekend I got to put it through the paces.  Almost 100 on Saturday and 85 on Sunday.

I have to admit my knee has been really hurting lately.  Enough that it concerned me.  Saturday I jumped on the new bike and noticed the saddle may be a bit high.  Note: I don't get fit and don't have saddle height numbers, etc.  I just ride and adjust...usually my body and not the bike.  Lazy?  Anyway about halfway through the ride I noticed my knee wasn't hurting.  No way?!  Do my other bikes have a saddle that's too low?  I've ridden them for years that way.  I did lower the saddle ever so slightly and tilt the saddle some.  I am using road pedals and shoes too on this bike while I have mtb pedals and shoes on the other bikes for winter use.  I did ride the Evergreen yesterday for 2 hours (mtb pedals and shoes and same seat height as before) and the knee seemed ok.  Maybe it's just getting better?  A combination of things?

The frame is a TwinSix Rando, steel.  The drivetrain bits are Sram Force 1X that I had from the Moots that was switched to AXS.  Onyx hubs in crazy pink, of course, laced to WTB carbon rims.  So far I'm loving the bike.  Super fun and comfortable.

Maiden Voyage.

I've come accustom to having a half frame bag on my bikes.  I keep a pump, money, and food in there.  I don't like much in my jersey pockets.  I will admit this bike looks better without a bag but function over fashion!

I may take the bike out this morning as the rest of the week is looking wet.  The Evergreen is setup with lights and etc already so if I'm short on time that will get the nod.  Either way a couple more hours of riding this morning will happen.
