Weekend Recap.

Friday I ventured down to Sand Prairie.  It only gets foot and dog traffic so I wasn't very optimistic.  I had snowshoed the back section in a few times but never ridden it.  I was stoked to find all trails rideable!  It's not riding for everyone however.  It's slow and bumpy but something I enjoy.  I got 2 hours in at Sand Prairie and another hour in at the North Loop before heading home.

Saturday we had a gymnastics meet (I was there 7 hours!) in Brainerd.  We didn't have to leave until 11 so I got out for a 2 hour ride.  I took the fat bike down County Road 8 to Island View Park.  It's a small park with nothing really there, but I hit it up a few times a year.

Upper section at Island View Park

The upper section of Island View (above picture) has a plowed section around the perimeter.  I did a few loops there and attempted to ride the lower section by the Mississippi.  But there was very little foot traffic so it was impossible to ride.  Maybe I'll head over sometime and do some laps on the snowshoes.

Sunday we had wind with recorded gusts up to 49 mph.  Another day in the woods!  I did a few laps on the bottom, back side of Talahi and headed over to the North Loop.  Did a 3/4 loop before meeting up with Jen and doing a half North Loop, taking the connector to Friedrich,  and heading home.

Pretty stoked I almost hit 13 hours (all fat bike at 109 miles) on the week, for my first week of riding since my crash the week before Thanksgiving.  Overall the riding feels good.  My neck gets a bit sore on bumpy rides but recovers quickly.  If I flex my legs I can feel the burn from riding.  I haven't had that in a long time!

Not sure on today yet but most likely will take it off from riding.  Maybe make some banana bread, ha!

I received and email last night from the ITI.  They are deferring my entrance till next year, 2021!  I'm so stoked!  I'm guessing I could have pushed through it but I'm just not sure on my neck yet.  A day riding the tussocks would have me walking around like Frankenstein.

Happy Week.
