Usually when October rolls around at the shop, things really slow down. While we have had our "slow" days we haven't had it consistently...which is a good thing! However, we use October as a month to play catch up on the many things that get neglected throughout the year during our busier times. Not yet. We have been busy placing preseason orders for next year, entering Nordic stuff, pricing Nordic stuff, putting Nordic stuff on the floor, changing the store around to "winter mode", selling bikes!, repairing bikes (we took in a ton of bikes on Monday...Indian Summer), and just plain helping customers. October has been a fast month thus far. How many days till Christmas?
The Dirt Bag Ride is coming together. Up to 30 registered riders! I get a few new names everyday. I was hoping for 30 but bet we fill up! If you want in let me know. Check the blog for more details.
I have still been riding and still loving it but am considering taking a couple weeks off. What?! I need to reinvigorate myself. I will still do the Monday Night MTB Rides and still ride some, but not for as long. Brian and I went out and rode the first part of the Dirt Bag yesterday. Brian was battling a bum leg and I was blowing snot and tired. We struggled home into the wind silently, in our own misery. We ended up with 3 hours. My first reaction was only 3 hours? But hell 3 hours is a long time. Having put in a lot of saddle time this year my perception of a long ride has been severely warped. I used to ride my cty rd 8 loop, 26 miles, in the morning and feel that was a good ride (some days). But now I wouldn't even consider going out for "just" 26 miles. Dork. So maybe the first 2 weeks of November will be spent doing other things. Or maybe I'll just push on through, burn out, start drinking again, and get expanded cable! Nope.
Later.
