TransIowa...

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. I don't think I was that busy, just pretty preoccupied in the head I guess. I usually don't get too nervous before races. But this race has me second guessing a lot of my choices, etc. But as single speeders say, "run whatcha brung". So that's it. No more worrying about which bike, what gearing, what tires, hydration pack or no, it's all set no more second guessing. A lot of blogs by other riders are talking about keeping it simple and light. I tend to want to bring too much. I mean 322.8 miles...who knows what you'll need. I have compromised and feel I have a reasonable amount of "stuff" packed. All that's left is to just ride!
The weather is still the wild card. It has been pretty moist as of late and they may be getting rain today. Time will tell. It's suppose to be dry this weekend but with some pretty stellar wind. Should be fun, ha!
Jen and fam are coming with but Jen will be unable to post updates on FB as she was at the Arrowhead. The race organizers are a bit nazi about allowing people, other than racers, on the course. So Jen will not know how I am doing until I cross the finish line in the wee morning hours of Sunday.
Check out G-Ted's blog for both TransIowa radio and twitter updates, you may be able to get a bit or so on how I am fairing.

I usually go into events like this with the "just want to finish" attitude. Which I do, but I also want to do well. I have put in a lot of training in preparation for this. I have not done so well with getting to 180lbs but other than that I feel pretty strong. I hope to hang with the front guys and see what happens. 24+ hours out riding...a lot can happen.

Here we go.

Out.
