Doing longer events I like but they tend to put me into a "hobbling" state for a few days. Three areas are affected: lower neck, lower back, and the right ankle. The lower back tends to stop hurting once I get off the bike. My neck for a few days will be tight and feels like the tag of my shirt is constantly tickling me, even though it isn't. I get why these hurt, but not too sure what's up with my ankle. It actually doesn't hurt too bad during the event, it's the days after that kind of suck. Getting up in the middle of the night to relieve myself is the worst. The first step almost drops me, then I hobble the rest of the way to the bathroom.
I had planned on riding in the dark last night. Just a 2-3 hour spin to move the legs, but my ankle was pretty swollen and thought another day off it would be better. Man, I'm literally falling apart.
So instead of riding I mowed, made dinner, and vacuumed the entire house for cobwebs. Crazy fun night!
Today is the Tuesday Road Ride from the Shop so get ready. If you ride next to me I apologize in advance if I piss and moan about all my aches and pains.
Weather wise is should be awesome: sunny, 70 degrees, and SE wind...nice!
Longing for the MTB trails to be fully open (this week should help) I find myself looking at MTB events. Wisconsin has it dialed. Minnesota needs to step it up. Check it here.
Later.

I feel for ya Ben. Still better than that slow painless death on your living room couch, day by day...
Looking forward to your next adventure and injury report.
Ahhhh....to be 35 again.
