I finally got out on the mtn bike today! It was my first mtn bike ride and my first voyage on the Salsa Selma Ti Single Speed. Just plain awesome. Not once did I have any aches, pains, or sleeping hands. The bike climbs like a goat too. I do need to get more time in the saddle. I need to get in single speed shape. 12 hours of Wasau is coming up. I need to get better at spinning and use to grinding. With time.
I met Burt at 1:00 at the North Loop, it was damn hot n humid. We did a lap there, rode Talahi woods, Beaver Island Trails, River Bluffs, Plum Creek, and back to the North Loop where I did another loop then Talahi and home. 3 sweaty hours on the mountain bike, good times. The North Loop is, in my opinion, in the best shape out of all the trails we rode. Plum Creek is already really over grown and still has tons of standing water. The River bluffs are now off limits. They are starting construction, Burt and I got kicked out. After this weekend I would think all of the North Loop, minus the expert section: Slippery When Wet, should be open. Some clearing will be required but too damn hot for that now.
Once home I took a shower, mowed the lawn, took another shower, ate at the new BBQ joint: Dickey's, and now chilling.
Yesterday I did get out in the morning for a ride. I took the gravel bike and rode the parts of the Dirt Bag I didn't ride earlier and rode them backwards. I added some more here and there for a total of 80 miles and 4.5 hours.
I plan on riding tomorrow again, ride Saturday to Jen's parent's cabin, and back home on Monday. Then the Tuesday night ride then time off in preparation for the 12 hours of Wasau. Man am I loving the bike right now!
Later...stay cool.
