We'll have to keep a close eye on the weather over the next 24 hours to determine whether or not we want to attempt the Summer Solstice 100. As "luck" would have it we are suppose to have rain, thunderstorms, and good wind all day Tuesday. Pisser. It's not like we lose a ton of daylight over a week, so if we need to we can push it back a week. But yeah, it still sucks. I know some that have arranged their work schedule to accommodate the earlier depart time. Stupid spring, and now summer!
Stay tuned.
Again with the weather. Jim and I were to bike to Stillwater yesterday and then take in the last of the NVGP. I was wishy washy of whether or not I'd go the whole way. Jen had been sick and I didn't know the condition she would be in. At 6 in the morning Jim sent me a text stating the overcast, gloomy skies did not appeal for a day in Stillwater and back to bed he went. I too thought about going back to bed but had already consumed my bowl of steel cut oats. So out the door I went to get my ride in.
I wasn't sure on a route or exactly what I'd do. The wind was E/NE so that's the general direction I took after going south a bit. I felt good, really good.
I just rode and this is somewhat the route I took:
STC, Sand Dunes, Livonia Township, Zimmerman, not quite St. Francis, Isanti, Bradford, Princeton, Santiago, Palmer, STC Airport, and home.
102 miles with a 20.2 mph average.
Great ride, still can't believe how good I felt and still feel. Like I said there was minimal wind and the route was fairly flat, like 1200 ft of climbing for the entire ride!
A fun ride!
Back home we were not too sure what to do for the rest of the day. Jen made some killer french toast. It was then decided to head to Maple Grove to Trader Joe's. After hooked up with Jen's parent's and aunt for some Mexican food.
A great Father's Day. Thanks.
Later.
