Looking Forward.

Whoa...I'm in a funk, but then again so are most people that walk through our doors at Rev. At first I enjoyed the mild weather. It made putting the miles on much easier. But once the weather never dropped the other boot my concern mounted, followed by depression. It's just plain 'ol blah outside.
I'm still looking forward to the Arrowhead but really just want to "ride" it. I have today off. It was a planned day off in hopes of putting 8-10 hours in on snowmobile trails. Ha...like that's going to happen. So instead I'm chilling on the couch, typing this, and watching Sports Center. I will get out soon for 4-5 hours. Enough for this guy.

Which somewhat leads into my next thought: 2012. I tried to be an athlete that had a scheduled workout for the week, etc. I really like having it laid out for me and not "having to think" and just ride. But just riding became a chore. It's not who I am. I do ok with just riding so that's what I'm back to doing. Riding because it's fun and I love it, not to gain 5 minutes on the next guy etc.
So yeah, finishing the Arrowhead with all body parts intact and unfrozen would be sweet.

New baby girl on the way. May 1st is the due date but more like April, if history has anything to say. Knowing this has me focusing my goals and aspirations for 2012 differently than 2011.

  • Arrowhead 135 (January-February)

  • Ragnorak (April) Submitted a postcard but this is real "iffy"

  • Almazno 100 or Royal 162 (May) Postcard submitted, but again questionable.

  • Chequamegon 100 (May or June, TBD) Would love to do this but really need to see how life plays out.

  • Lutsen 99er (June) I know, I know...I really poo pooed this event last year. I'm eating my words. This is on the wish list but...

  • Dirty Benjamin (June) Not sure why but this is my favorite gravel race. Not that scenic but cool guys run the event and cool guys ride the event.

  • July: hope to sneak in some MN MTB series races this year. Truth be told many of the above events may not happen for me...to be replaced for these shorter distance and required time events. It's been awhile. If so, I will rock the single speed Salsa Selma Ti.

  • Heck of the North (September) Still high on my list of events to do. Still haven't done, and only have heard great things about.

  • Fools Gold 100 (September) In Georgia, already signed up, doing it single speed. "The Event" for the season. Looking forward to this one.

  • Some 24 Hour Event? (October) Just thinking, who knows.

  • Arrowhead 135...on foot?! Long term goal is to finish the Arrowhead all three ways: bike, foot, and ski.

So there you have it. Hoping for snow still! Really think that will kick me out of me funk.

Hope to be back to more regularly blogging too.

Later.
