You may be getting sick of my constant posts on the same 'ol thing, like how awesome our gravel night ride was last night! But hey, it's what I'm doing and this here is my blog of what I'm doing. Nothing earth shattering for sure!
Honestly, I don't think the weather could have been any better last night. We, (Matt, Kyle, and myself) left my house at 8:30 to already cooler temps. We headed East and North. Skimmed past Foley, through Gillman, Sauk Rapids, and home for a solid 3 hours. On the back side of the ride the temps had fallen more and the wind was gone. A light fog was filling in the low lying areas. This made for a unique ride. At times the fog was just above our heads. The lumens of our lights were bouncing all over the place. Neat stuff.
Skipping Beats:
Saw the other day that the winner of the Tuscobia Winter Ultra (150 miler) wins an entry into the 2014 ITI in Alaska. The past few years the winner of the Arrowhead 135 also wins an entry. This is totally on my "bucket list" but winning those races would truly take a spectacular ride on my part. Looking at the rider list for the 2013 ITI I recognize many of the riders. A lot from MN! Wish this was my year to go. I'm 36, my goal is before or when I'm 40. Start saving now...flying with a Fat Bike can't be cheap!
This, along with the recently fall like weather, has me longing for shorter days, cooler days, and fall riding. With some fat tire snow riding not far behind. Typical Minnesotan...always wanting the weather we're not in!
Meeting Mike this morning, real soon, for 5 hour, or so, road ride. It will be casual but still 5 hours. My legs are a bit sore from Tuesday's hammer fest and last nights gravel ride. But it's a good feeling...I like it.
Saturday's tri should be interesting!
Gotta boogie.
Out.
