Brrr...
Typical for the first cold spell I didn't know what to wear and eventually chose my Search and State jacket. About 30 minutes into the ride and I thought I may be overdressed. But as my body regulated itself I was damn comfortable in the jacket. About 2 hours in I was happy I had the jacket. At spots my Garmin was reading 45 degrees! My hands actually got cold in August...mid August! Awesome.
We met at Kyle's cabin on Little Rock Lake near Rice. North was the primary direction. Hit all kinds of terra firma: asphalt, gravel, Soo Line Trail (gravel), several Minimum Maintenance Roads (read: Sand), the ditch of Hwy 10, and ATV tracks...perfect. Not 100% sure on our route but it went something like this:
Little Rock Lake, Rice, almost Royalton, almost Little Falls, then a lot to the east, almost a town that starts with and "m", Soo Line Trail thru Genola/Pierz, and back. A bit off the 3 hour mark with 4 hours and 65 fun miles.
Pretty cool that it was Kyle's last night Gravel Ride with us and it ended up being his longest ride ever! Kyle was the only one to jump into the lake. Can't verify if it was a cannonball or not.
My head hit the pillow around 2 am! Not tired at all, but not feeling like work today either.
Hope to get 3 hours of something in today, a run before work tomorrow, and a century on Sunday. But as always, plans change!
Have a good one.
Out.
