I hate when I change my plans to ride, for weather that's almost guaranteed to happen...and then it doesn't happen. Argh, says the pirate.
In hindsight it's probably for the best. The weather was hot and sticky last night and the NW wind was whipping. I then planned to hangout at the shop after closing to get some of my bikes dialed in but Brinna gave me the "puppy eyes" through the phone so I came home. Also a good call since they leave tomorrow for the weekend and tonight is the new Night Gravel Ride.
So if you are so inclined (all invited) meet at the shop around 8:15 tonight. We will then caravan or car pool out the Kyle's cabin on Little Rock Lake near Rice. A 3 hour ride will ensue. Cannonballs into the lake after...well maybe it's suppose to get pretty chilly tonight...YES!!!!! Yep it will be a late one. My guess is my head will hit the pillow somewhere between 2-3. That's pretty damn late for this graying haired boy....ahem I mean man. But all for a good cause: giving Kyle a proper send off to college.
With the cooling of the weather (I'm sure a heat wave is yet to come) and discussions turning to cyclocross I am getting the burn again to actually try a race. I know it's not a "good" idea with my knees and all but it looks so fun in a perverted kind of way. Who knows, I've been talking about it for several years and have never done one. Maybe I'm a sidelines kind of guy.
What I really need to do is practice dismounts at speed. I am missing my right ACL and the left ACL is somewhat FUBARed. My concern is I plant my right foot, have my knee give out (which it does) and go teeth first into a barricade. I guess I'd have a pretty sweet smile!
Alright...off to work to do some of the work I didn't do last night.
Out.
