Cow Bells.

Today is the day...my first cross race.

Goals: don't get hurt, don't crash, have fun, don't get last.

Racing the All City Nature Boy in the single speed class.  Problem is I've heard some of the fastest guys race single speed.  Great.
My dismounts and remounts are full of studder steps and braking.  Getting better, just need more time.  Only been doing this for a wee little bit.  And damn is it fun!

When I consider the drive and how long I'll be racing (45 minutes) I question whether or not it's worth it.  Then I toss in all kinds of excused not too (like staying home and riding gravel for  hours), typical me.  But I'm going...as nervous as I am I'm just as excited.

More Cow Bell!

Not sure what tomorrow morning will bring.  I work at noon.  Maybe a trail run or some gravel...hmmm?

I have one more week of doing "whatever" then I'm getting more focused for my winter races, Tuscobia 150 and the Arrowhead 135.  Getting near time to ramp up the miles again.  Yeah, says Jen.

Later.

When you race 45 minutes of CX you are racing the whole time. There is someone near you and they want to go faster than you each and every second.

I don't think you get more than that out of any length event- think about all the staring at each other that goes on in a longer road race, the time spent alone mountain biking, the group riding in gravel races etc..

That is my justification for the driving to 'short' races.
