A Perfect Night Ride.

Per usual, my motivation to ride last night wained as the night progressed.  As the witching hour neared I told myself I was riding at least a lap at the North Loop.  Because, per usual, getting out the door is sometimes the hardest part of the ride!

It was only Matt R. and I that showed for Monday Night Lights.  Matt too was thankful for the motivation of having committed to the ride the previous day.  I thought the trail may be slick after seeing lots of use but it was the opposite.  The cold temps had the snow gripped our tires like Velcro.  We didn't have the fastest lap via time but in my head it flashed by.  We commented to each other that the crunch and snap of the snow against our Surly Nate tires was mesmerising like a camp fire.

From the loop we ventured on down to Sand Prairie.  Back in the woods it appeared there was 1" to 2" more snow than up at the Loop.  Also I noted that the temp dropped from 8 degrees to 1 degree.  From here we hit up the trails behind St. Benedict Center and called it for a night.
On the way home I stopped off at Riverside to check the snow making progress.  Looks like they are almost done.  Which means the kids and I may be going sledding tonight!

With a bit over 1.5 hours in I was home in time to snuggle with the kids for a bit.
A great night.

Gym day again today.  No riding.  State Cyclocross is looming.  Pretty flipping excited but also more nervous than previous races...not sure why.  Just for fun, right?!!

Later.
