Boy I wasn't feeling the gotta get out and ride bug yesterday after work, worked till noon. But I know sometimes the hardest part of a ride is getting out the door.
Such was the case yesterday. Once I was pushing pedals it was great.
I haven't been on the Salsa Mukluk Ti since mid February! I've reserved this bike for only snow, and clean at that! But decided I have it to ride it...and ride it I did.
Very glad I did too. I have come to the conclusion that my current saddle is what gives me cheek chaffing on my longer rides. After last years Arrowhead I was wrecked for a week...I mean I had scabs on the 'ol butt cheeks! Sorry, no pictures.
Besides that the bike fit and rode very well. Had a smile most of the time. So fun.
Did some of the Dirt Bag course but went further south near Monticello. Found some fun, new gravel roads that I will most likely not be able to find again.
Midway through the ride I had to stop and swap out gloves for a warmer pair and add a vest. Traveling with a frame pack allows for these luxuries.
I checked the mileage near home. I saw I would get 85 miles in. The idea of finding another 15 miles and completing the #teamcrc challenge for November crossed my mind. But I promised the girls I'd be home before they were home from gymnastics. That and I was tired too!
So ended with 85 miles in 5 hours 25 minutes.
No time for a recovery ride today.
Hitting the gym up for some recovery there. Read: Sauna!
Work the weekend but have an early morning Saturday ride planned and a run Sunday.
I think I'm ready for snow.
Later.
