Night Gravel.

After picking up kids and making dinner I was able to get out for a ride.  It was 6 pm.  I had my lights charged and on, I was ready for the night.  I contemplated my route some.  The wind was SW and I longing for something different but opted for the Dirt Bag course.  I know it well and more importantly I know where the dogs are.  Nothing gives me a scare as a dog sneaking up on you in the night.

It was hot and breezy at the start but oddly I enjoyed it.  I took the Cutthroat this time as I wanted the aero bars and a wider tire.  It's such a comfortable ride.  If I could just fit a 40 tooth chainring I'd be set.  Between the heat and wind I was thirsty!  I downed my 100 oz hydrating pack before the ride was up, riding the last 45 minutes dry.  I just couldn't get enough water.

The sun sets later and later but finally got to switch my lights on.  With the darkness came the bugs.  June bugs freak me out.  I had a few get in my jersey and stick to my legs.  I'd rather have chasing dogs!  Riding gravel roads, alone, and at night is some of the best riding for me.  I don't do it nearly enough as I'm way more a morning person than a night guy.
Finished with 4 hours 48 minutes and 83 miles.  I thought I'd be shot and sluggish getting up this morning but thus far I feel pretty good!
I'll be taking the Evergreen out today.  Heading East and South...that's all I know.

Tomorrow kicks off our Anniversary Sale at the shop...12 years!!!  It's usually a busy weekend but fun and fast.  I'll be trying to sneak in early morning rides if the rain holds off.

Not the weekend yet but Happy Weekend.
